Both PJ and Thomas were born and raised in Cleveland, Tennessee, but they never crossed paths until later in life. PJ grew up on a farm, loving the outdoors. He graduated from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelors in psychology, and is now a licensed real estate agent and flipping houses on the side. PJ loves building things and remodeling houses; in his spare time, he's usually working out or spending time with family and friends, but he's also content with being a homebody and loves watching movies at home with Thomas.
Thomas started out his education with an associates degree from Cleveland State, but he later graduated from University of Tennessee at Chattanooga with a bachelors in communications. He's currently working at Shane's Rib Shack. Thomas says his hobbies include interior design, movies, family dinners "and obviously anything that has to do with PJ."
Although they were introduced through a mutual friend, they met officially on Facebook. Their first date was dinner at O'Charley's and then to see the Social Network. Thomas remembers this event because while they were out together, they were spotted by a mutual friend. PJ said to Thomas, "Now other people know you're gay." But Thomas just smiled and replied, "I don't care, because I'm with you."
Apparently, they each wanted a turn at asking the other out. Thomas was the first to ask PJ to make the relationship official, when he showed up on PJ's doorstep with flower and ice cream. "He said 'yes' but he had to show me up by asking me out again in New York City on Fifth Avenue outside of the Apple Store. Another highlight from their trip to NYC was Thomas's attempt to find the most romantic place in the city. Thomas googled the location, put it in his phone's GPS, and then fifty-seven blocks later after a long walk and finding themselves lost in NYC, Thomas got his first public kiss and it turned out to be romantic after all. "The night after getting lost, I held his hand in the middle of Times Square, and it was so exhilarating," says Thomas.
When it comes to spending time together, their idea of the perfect date night is getting pizza from their favorite local pizza joint, renting a movie and cuddling up on the couch with their dog Jolie for some relaxing. "We aren't clubbers and we don't party," says Thomas. "We are mostly homebodies, but we're both okay with that." Something else that they enjoy doing together is fixing up PJ's house. While PJ does most of the renovation, Thomas does the painting when he can and they both love going to Lowe's together to pick out supplies and share ideas. "We literally have almost all the same interests," says Thomas.
When it comes to the future, although Thomas has plans to spend some time in New York City, PJ hopes that they will eventually settle down, have kids and build their dream house on the farm.
Here's a look at my best shots of this incredible couple! It was a blast getting to spend some time with them and hear their story, and they're both naturals in front of the camera. Looking forward to more photo shoots with them in the future.
